5th Tick - Eat at Sandwich Sandwich

7 weeks in and only 4 ticks completed. It's time to step up the game and get a few of the easier 'local' ticks ticked off. So with the sun shining and feeling inspired following my weekend of eating with Aitana and Sara (now those girls had determination and a plan), it was off to eat. This of course is not helping my "lose the weight I've put on" tick, but hey ho.

I added Sandwich Sandwich to the list after missing out going to the one in Bristol last year and seeing that a London branch was opened on Eating with Todd ("if you can't take a date, take a mate" or in my case, just go by yourself).

In preparation, I skipped breakfast and arrived around 12.30pm. The line wasn't too bad, I waited around 15 minutes to order and another 5 minutes to pay. Decisions decisions. Should I go the Christmas special (it comes with a pot of gravy to dip your sandwich in to) or choose one of the others? In the end I went with the Chicken Kyiv (Breaded Chicken, Pulled Bacon, Garlic, Parmesan, Herby Soft Cheese, Caramelized Red Onions, Cucumber & Lettuce). At £9.95, it was pretty good value for London sandwich prices. Of course never as good value as my beloved supermarket Meal Deals. Very tempted by the Scotch Egg which looked mighty tasty, maybe next time.

The Sandwich Sandwich production line is impressive, with 6 sandwich masters busily constructing piled high sandwiches. It's an art and certainly a step up from Subway (not that there is anything wrong with Subway).

Sandwich clutched in hand, I found a seat and unwrapped my hefty parcel. Now this thing is large and not a hope in hell of actually being able to get my mouth open wide enough or to eat daintily. You sort of have to bite the bottom half and then take a bite of the top half to get the full "experience." After what seemed like a considerable amount of time, I'd managed to eat half and was stuffed. The other half was wrapped back up and served as tonight's dinner.  So I can say all I've eaten today is a sandwich. Feeling virtuous. And full.
